"We are not agents of change if we aren't aiding those who need mentorship."

“Florencio Aranda has been beating the odds his entire life. As a Latino male he is expected to be a statistic, to be marginalized, have a limited education and exist behind the scenes in his community. The fact is he is a statistic; he represents the less than one percent of Latino males in the country who are pursuing and will complete a doctorate.  In this space, he represents the kind of cultural and community capital which is important and necessary to lead Latino communities.  I am certain Florencio will succeed in his endeavors; he has the experience, the knowledge and the “ganas” to move his Latino community forward. He is an exceptional student, leader and individual who brings a rich counter narrative to the Latino experience.”
